DRB Group helps raise funds for Kidzwish
The 2nd Annual Kidzwish Bowls day was held on Friday February 12th with much success; raising in excess of $15,000 in much needed funds for the Kidzwish foundation and Amelia Wilkinson.
Amelia Wilkinson is a 6 year old Northern Suburbs girl with Rett Syndrome - a unique development disorder. All money that was raised on the Bowls day will go to support The KidzWish Foundation (a non profit organisation benefiting sick, disabled and disadvantaged children) specifically for the purchase of new equipment that will assist Amelia.
The full field of 168 bowlers took up all three rinks at Wiseman Park Bowling Club, and what people lacked in skill they made up for in generosity. The crowd was entertained in a function afterwards by surfing Legend Mark Occhilupo and comedian Paul Martell; both very funny men. An auction on the evening was also held with items on the evening being extremely rare. Mick Fanning the 2 time world surfing champ donating signed 2007 and 2009 world title shirts, and Tim Farris from INXS signing a Stratocaster Fender, as well as other items.
Co organisers of the event; Mick Lowe from the DRB Group and Troy Taylor from Score Memorabilia were ecstatic with the day, as the rain held off and everyone had a fantastic time. “We were really happy with not only the amount of money raised but the fact that everyone also had a really good day. We are already gearing up in making next year’s event bigger and better!” said Mick. It would not have been made possible without the support of the sponsors; DRB Group, Score Memorabilia, Wiseman Park Bowling Club, Wave FM, Longboard Beer, Bunnings, Beach Street Surf Scene, Savvy fitness, Skydive the Beach, University of Wollongong, Imagine restaurant and the Bendigo Bank.
